One of my favorite things to do is explore! Explore new places, new food and, especially, new techniques and media in my artwork. Some of these turn into life-long loves that I return to over & over again. Others I enjoy as I experiment with them, carrying pieces and ideas into my future artwork. Either way, I end up creating a lot of art! I hope you enjoy browsing these "classic" creations that are still available, if you want a real trip down memory lane you can see the many classic pieces that have already found home on THIS PAGE.
"Industrial" Mixed Media
If you've seen my work you've probably guessed that I really love to layer different media, colors and textures together. Just by looking at the artwork you might not realize that a lot of the materials I use are more readily found in a hardware than an art store! Those might include wood, concrete, steel, aluminum, tape, adhesives, hardware, floor tiles or anything else that jumps from the shelves to my cart when I'm out looking for materials. To add the beautifully colored inks, paints and stains I have a selection of brushes, sponges and wipes that I've collected over the years - many of which come from the hardware section too. In addition to the traditional art tools you might think of using I have drills, sanders, wire cutters, pliers, grinding wheels, a plasma cutter, various saws, drill press and other construction/industrial tools at my disposal. I enjoy that I can incorporate "building" skills within the creative design and assembly process. Shown below are some of my constructed pieces.
